Company history
Proteus was established in 1994 by Jayne Owen and Steve Nuttall.
Originally based in Queens Road in Aberdeen the company was set up to offer organisational development support to local companies in Aberdeen at a time when these services (e.g. executive coaching) were not the norm.
Jayne had come from a successful career in oil industry recruitment, supplying engineers and other specialists to the oil and gas industry.
Steve Nuttall had a successful career in management in an oil and gas major.
The company was one of the first of its kind to achieve the Investors in People (IIP) Award from Scottish Enterprise which has been successful re-applied for twice with the latest award in 2005. In November 2006 Proteus was recognised with an award for ten years of IIP at a ceremony at Stirling Castle.
Joined in 1996 by Celia MacDonald, an oil industry specialist who had diversified into change management and Jackie Robertson, a finance and administration expert the company continued to grow and develop and relocated to an office base in Milltimber. Proteus has continued to develop its services and client base supported by many quality colleagues and associates.
Proteus realised that offering high quality services at the cutting edge of development was a missing in the marketplace, and has resisted the temptation to over develop in size or to offer routine, widely available HR services. Proteus is a specialist organisation and can offer the difference that makes a difference to clients.
